Red dot with laser in Ontario

I'm thinking of putting a red dot on my 30-30 Marlin and have been looking around at a few inexpensive models. In my research I've noticed that some red (and green) dots also have a laser combined with them. Over the years I've read and been told that laser sights were illegal to hunt with in Ontario. After checking the MNR regs on firearms I can't find any mention of scopes, dots or lasers. Am I missing something or is the laser thing more a "principle of fair chase" rather than a true regulation?

This is why I think people believe it is illegal to hunt with a laser sight:

Night hunting

20. (1) A person shall not, during the period from half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise,

(a) hunt wildlife;

(b) have a firearm in the person’s possession in an area usually inhabited by wildlife, unless the firearm is unloaded and encased; or

(c) shine a light for the purpose of hunting wildlife.

I don't know if it illegal or not, or if that regulation applies...but I think it would be useless anyways.

You're allowed to use a flashlight for hunting coon at night. I think this may also be the only useful situation for a laser site if you're allowed to use one...

Coon hunting is specific. Only a .22 rimfire can be used last I checked so your 30-30 would be a no no. Dogs also must be used.

Laser is utter useless for woodland... more of an urban or range practice thing.. Scope or sights are way better. Red dot is good for fast acquisition in dense bush, as a low powered scope can also do very well. Open sights and red dots are preferred in dense brush for me, however I use a 3x40 setting for my main hunting (only) rifle. :D

I use a laser for whitetail all the time... When thy cross my path I say "halt... Who goes there"... When they don't answer I put it on the vitals and squeeze... Seriously.. Leave the laser at home...

A laser would be a neat option when bear hunting. You can play chase the dot with them !

Had to laugh a that one ....

I use a green laser ( much better than red ) but only on a "tactical" .22semi...tons of fun , but when it comes to hunting ...I'm an ironsighter
