Red fiberglass SKS stock question

I have one but don't really know cos its too beautiful to rough up. Lol.

The myth is that the Chinese started making them after the wood stock disintegrated buried in the ground in the jungles of Vietnam.

I dunno about being buried per say, but yes the rumor is they were built to better deal with the wet, humid jungles of Vietnam, where wood has a habit of swelling, shrinking, and cracking.

However, the chinese Catalpa wood has oils that resist rot far better then Birch. :^)

The jungle stocks are very durable..... Thats what they were made for.

There is a lot of speculation as to whether or not the fiberglass stocks were every issued in Viet Nam or anywhere else. I have never heard of one being brought back as capture rifle from Viet Nam and I certainly didn't see any of them in Africa.

Word is they were purpose built for commercial export.

The rifle I have with one is no more accurate than any other SKS whether it's Chinese, Yugo, Bulgarian or Russian.

As for standing up, it's fiberglass. It will be every bit as durable as any other fiberglass stock.

Well anyways, it was a good marketing story .

I bought it when they were plentiful and cheap. I think I bought mine from sksman dot com.
