Here on PEI, we saw a great decilne in foxes shortly after the yotes crossed the ice in the 80's. Numbers have since stabilized and I have seen foxes and Coyotes in the sam area (not at the same time though) I am told PEI and some parts of NS have had good fox populations becaise our foxes are on average bigger than the rest of North America. (mind you our Coyotes are big too)
In the 90s it was rare to see a fox, quite common now.
