...since joining a few months ago CGN has become an addiction!!! ...i drop by the site several times a day as my work allows

...but here's where things have gotten dicey ...upon logging in i open the general discussion link just because it's there ...i've always been a devoted hunter, but now i am drawn to the red rifle posts ...i can't help myself ...bought a couple of sks's a few years ago and have slowly worked them into shape ...now an svt 40 ...i am starting to lust after an m44 ...the posts are like pure heroin! ...can i get any help for this affliction? ...i want to shoot them all!!! ...good guns at discount store pricing? ...bulk ammo available out the ying-yag? ...and the worst part is that if i can't sleep at night, yes, i leave my wife alone in bed and sneak quietly to CGN and feast my eyes on lacquered soviets! ...oh god!!!

...any others out there who go directly to 'red rifles'? ...is there help for me?
 
Used to myself as well, the RR forum has dropped off for me a bit though. Shotguns and milsurps in general garner more of my attention now.
 
Hey man I feel you. I started collecting Red Rifles only about 8 months and ago and so far I have 2 SVT-40's, 2 SKS, 1 M38, 1 M44, and 3 91/30s. Not to mention I've sold another M38, another 91/30 and another 2 SKS.

It's a fever, the prices really help.

The second step is either justifying more purchases and that you have it under control, or just saying "Sure, I have a problem, but so what! There are worse problems a guy can have!"

Oh, and you are totally screwed! It usually starts with one country and then it spreads like the plague! You'll soon be lusting after Enfields, Garands, Mausers etc soon enough!
You are lucky to love these right now as they are very cheap and plentiful. Everything else is getting pricey fast!

Buy them now while you can, and the ammo for them too.

We will remember this as the happy time, when these guns and crates of milsurp were cheap and plentiful.
 
Here is what you did: you created a monster, a Red Monster inside yourself. And now you have to feed him!! And the menu is: red guns and more red guns with a nice mixture of the surplus ammo..... And the monster feels sooo goood when the new toy arrives at your house! He wants to caras it, touch it and almost make love to it:)))))
Once he satisfied with the most recent addition, he is ready for more. And more. And more....

Here is mine :)
Bought one Feb 14/2013, Same day bought a 1949 SKS and then it went from there.
1953 Polish M44, 1953 Laminate Tula with Choate mount and glass, Chinese SKS 1960's , 1955 Tula Non refurb, 1954 Izzy Non refurb, 1949 Tula with all period correct #'s matching parts with spike bayonet ( Stock is a sanded re-stamp period correct slim foregrip stock) , and finally a 1943 Tula SVT40. And finally a CSA VZ58.

Have not bought a Red Rifle since this spring, but bought 7 or 8 last year :) Now trying to decide between and Springfield M1a, a James River M14, or an LRB but gotta save a bunch of cash cause they ain't affordable like the Red Rifles!!!!

I have 8 sks, 1 Yugo 59/66, 5 91/30 and 1 svt 40, looking for more cheap sks and svt 40, but so far the total cost is not as much as my Smith and Wesson antique .44 Russian!! You can have a nice collection of Red Rifles for the price a a really good hunting rifle! So go ahead and dive in, but wait for the sales and deals and you will not regret buying!

This pic makes me want one... My disease progressed into black and green rifles... Got sks, then svt40, then another sks... Tacticooled it out... Then got another sks with matching numbers... Then got a VZ58, then tacticooled it out, then sold all but one sks and purchased a robinson arms xcr-l keymod in tigerstripe green and black...

Still have some 54R and kicking around, nothing to shoot it with.... Kinda want a mos, they are cheap. The SVT was a ##### to clean, ish not really... im lazy... corrosive sucks... lol Bolt guns are easy.
Have 2 cases of 39 for the sks... and like 3 cases of 556 for the black and green
 
Don't forget to add Wolverine Supplies upcoming 958 Tactical to your list. It will fit right in with the Eastern Bloc hardware collection. Just buy all the rifles mentioned and don't look back. You'll sleep better then.:)
