Red Ryder trigger job [OC]

Red Ryder Frigger tune-up

This is a great thread for those of us who only has a lowly single shot Daisey in 1940 and yearned for a RR! Well, I bought a new RR 2-3 years ago. It had a terrible rear open sight, real kuku. I hack sawed it off, mounted a piece of aluminum on the receiver to take a cheap red dot COPPERHEAD I has on another air rifle. So my rear sight is great but the trigger is the worst. I will make this modification ASAP.

Thanks to the O. Poster for this.Thk

Perfect timing. I just got my daughter one for her birthday. I agree the trigger is horrible but I wasn't expecting much for the price. Maybe I'll give this a shot in the next few weeks. Thanks for the video.

Sly finished the job...

Well, I finally go around to it
Because I was unsure, I used this 10 inch Samsug tablet as an aid. This is not criticism of the OPer as without his recording the thing, I'd not have the courage to mess with it.

As I said in my 1st post, the rear sight was impossible to adjust and I cut it off and mounted a cheap red-dot.

I dissassembled the gun as far as the video did, only trouble was realzing that I
finally, that I had to spring the the buttom end of the frame apart to get the trigger group out. I had to leave in unassembled for two weeks but finished yesterday.

I really could not see that I needed to use my Dremel tool on it as the hammer was very smooth as was the area that is linked to the sear so I just lubed well.

After reassembling all, with no BBs in it, dry fired using the red dot. It could have been my imagination but I felt it was improved, but nothing like my 10/22 trigger which I spent much time on with some assistance and the Dremel.

I found the video a bit tough to see in the details when the camera was pointing too low. Now, being deaf, even with my best hears on, the verbal explanation was difficult to follow, probably because of the poor speaker in this tablet. I remember when I ran the video on the desktop and with a full screen it was good.

So, here's to the maker for his time Thk

Since posting the above, I have watched the video again, still on this pad and see that there was some light filing or stoning done with the group in the vice. So, Sly is not finished!
