Anyone know what the Redding Shellholder number is for a 308 size rim?

WSS sells #1, 6 and 10 shellholders. I would assume that these are the main shellholders for the most common calibers. (ie. 223, 308, etc...)

I want to pick up a set for resizing my 6BR brass but I can't find a chart anywhere as to what cartridges their numbers correspond to.

I know RCBS and LEE numbers are completely different but I don't know about Redding.

Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Richard

After a little more looking I found it:redface:

I know the last number of the product number is the shellholder number (ie. 11601 is #1 shellholder)

You don't really need anything that says 'competition' though. A shell holder is a shell holder. An RCBS shell holder will fit a Redding press with no fuss too.
Thanks for the link.

The Redding Comp Shellholders are progressive so you can adjust the amount of case sizing by .002.

Not the same as a LEE/RCBS where they are (or supposed to be) the same height.

Redding has sets of special shellholders designed to make setting up full length dies a snap. This five piece shellholder set is designed so you can set your shellholder flush against the die body and adjust your headspace by selecting the appropriate thickness Redding shellholder. The five shellholders are +.002", +.004", +.006", +.008", and +.010" thicker than normal shellholders

The Redding competition shellholders are nothing like a standard RCBS shellholder

It's nice to be able to decrease case to chamber headspace. You start at the +.010" and size a case. Try to chamber . If it does not chamber then go to the next smaller ( + .080" )

You would think you can achieve the same by backing out your FL Sizer. ALthough this works ok , its not as easy, and repeatable. Very handy if you have multiple rifles of the same cartridge. Just make note of the competition shellholder that adjust shoulder bump to right amount

Its suprising how excessive a typical FL sizer can size a case for a given chamber ( not the case all the time however )

The shellholder for 308 casehead is #1

The problem I had was I was not getting enough sizing. Looking at the way the shell holders are set up they would not have helped me out anyway.

I ended up overcoming the problem by using my Redding Body sizer and overcamming the press to get the desired results.

Maybe now that I have the brass sized down for my 0 headspace chamber, the comp holders might come in handy.
