My Redding die will not adjust to seat a bullet in my 3000 wsm any shorter than 2.74". I have load data calling for 2.72" and one for 2.65". What am I missing here? Screwing the die further into the press only flattens the shoulders.

Funny you post this tonight, I just finished loading some 300 WSM using redding dies. My OAL was 2.680.

Thank you HTHero, I wondered about that. As to the die,Bitumen, the seat plug on mine bottoms out on the throat at 2.74" Is there another part, like a shaft that should be in there ?

Not that I know of. Are you setting the die up properly? Running it down until it hits the shell holder and then backing off 1 full turn?

Try putting a trimmed empty case in the shell holder and raise the ram all the way to the top. Then raise the seat plug as high as it will go in the die. Screw the die down until you feel the crimp ring touch the case and back the die out half a turn. Set the lock ring, now lower the seat plug and see how short you can seat a bullet.
