Redding Dies?

Sounds like you are sold on Redding. If not, there is another option to consider - Forster Bushing Bump Neck Sizing Die.

This die does some things the Redding can't do. The Forster can bump the shoulder, and partially resize the neck. And, it can also use an expander ball which is located very high in the case, to avoid inducing runout. I select my bushing to do the smallest possible resize down, and then expand it back up with the expander ball perhaps 1 to 1/2 thou. This works the brass the very minimal amount, and seems to make the neck tension fairly independent of time since annealing. I only resize about 2/3 of the neck. I have reloaded five times in my 6BR with the same neck bushing, and only doing the shoulder bump. No indication the case needs a FL resize. And the case does not grow. Have not trimmed the cases since the initial clean up of the new brass.

Foster good idea if only loading for one rifle. If he has more than one rifle could run into problems with feeding. If I bump shoulder and neck size brass from a M305 I doubt it would chamber in my TRG 22.
 
hogie, I would say that you are correct in that you cannot use the brass when going from the M305 to the TRG but it will probably work going the other way. It is not reasonable to use one set of dies for more than one rifle since the chances that everything in the chambers is identical is quite unlikely. I am not saying it cannot be used but you would have to reset your die every time you change rifles, it's a waste of time. I make a rule to always dedicate a set of dies to one rifle only. Forster dies are better than many of the others in some ways. I do not agree that they are good only if loading for one rifle you could adjust them for another rifle just like any of the other dies.

Do you have dies that do not require adjustment when going from one rifle to another?

Yes I shoot a lot of milsurp rifles. So I would full lenght resize to make the shells work in multiple rifles. I have three 8mm mauser rifles that I size the same.

For precision I use a collet neck sizer and a Redding body die. I measure how much I bump the shoulder back.

My hunting rifle is a full lenght resize in 308 that I would not change the setting on to go to my Israeli mauser in 308.

I get what you are saying but a properly full length sized shell should fit multiple rifles. The OP was looking for a full lenght set. Without knowing what rifle or how many different rifles he has in same caliber neck sizing may not be the right choice. He could also be using a pump action rifle that may not function well without full lenght sizing.

It would be nice to know what rifle or rifles he is reloading for.
 
For full length sizing in my LRB (M14) i only full length size with my trusty RCBS set. Ive used that same set for years in all my rigs and wanted to step it up for my precision rifle setup. Been following a guy on the ol youtube and hes got some great vids on precision reloading (panhandle precision) ive got a few sets of Redding dies and i really like them. I tried experimenting with neck sizing before but didnt see any results that were worth it. Seen the set he was using and i really liked his results which is why i wanted to give it a try again. I'm developing a new load for the bolt gun and its either going to be the 175smk or 185jug. So far in testing the 185 is kicking ass.
