Redding Dies

I have a number of Redding die sets among others (Lee, RCBS, Lyman) and find the Reddings to be the best of the bunch.

In what respect do you find Redding dies " The Best" I have all different kinds of dies and I don't find any one brand that is better? FS

Smooth operation of the sizing dies (although I really like the Lee collet dies, too) and the seaters never give trouble with different ogives and type of bullets. So far, anyway. I have had issues with a Lee seating die sticking to .338 Accubonds and pulling them back out of the case. The one set of Lyman dies I have are pretty roughly finished compared to all the other brands.

The Reddings just seem to be a bit nicer finished and a bit smoother in operation. It's not a huge difference, but it is there.

When I bought my 204 Ruger I tried 2 sets of RCBS dies and neither were satisfactory. So I went back to Redding and had zero problems. I won't buy anything else now.

"...is that they are damned expensive..." Not as expensive as RCBS. Same high quality and customer service.

I've yet to find them cheaper than RCBS, usually on par or up to $10 more a set from what I've seen. At least that seems the case for standard sets. You've found them cheaper somewhere?

Redding seaters also have the built in crimper. It's a bit of a pain to set up properly and I finally gave up and will use a crimp die now if I want to crimp, but the function is there to use if you have the patience. I had some that crimped fine, but then had a whack that collapsed the shoulder from improper seating depth before I realized it even. Tried and tried to reset the depth and crimp to my liking but time is just too precious a commodity so I said screw it finally.

I've also had great result from RCBS dies, no issues whatsoever to date. Haven't used anything other than those two so can't comment - never had reason to use anything else so why change the routine now if it's working so well.
