Redding vs RCBS dies ** UPDATED **

Paul; This is obviously just a die set that got by the inspection somehow. Redding dies are good product, IMHO, and their warranty is also very good.
For those who suggested running a die over the threads or a thread file....this is hardened tool steel, you would have no success in these endeavors.
You will have those new dies back in jig time, Paul. Regards, Eagleye.

Thats kinda what I thought. I bought another set in 7/08 from a fellow on 24HR. I don't expect problems with them as well.

Update ....... Just got a new set of dies back from Redding. Packing slip mentioned that the original set had threads that were "out of spec". These ones go into my press perfectly.

Also, I would like to publicly appreciate the kind gesture that Cinch offered in this matter. I bought those dies from Pat a while ago, but didn't get to using them as I had no 223AI at the time, but one was in the works. I did not contact him concerning the problem with the dies, but upon reading this thread, he PMed me and asked if the dies in question were the ones he sold me. They were. He very kindly offered to pay the shipping for the dies back to Redding, thus going above and beyond in good EE relations. Thank-you very much! :D

Yah, some of the Lee stuff, though well thought out and inovative, just seems to lack some refinements. lol. But that being said, the Lee dies are some of the best out there. Not nearly as "refined" maybe as some of the others that cost 3 or 4 or 5 times as much, but most of the posters on here will never notice the difference in group sizes. I have them all from Forster to Lee and all in between. I sometimes take the Forster's to bed with me and fondle them, but they don't make any better boolits the next day. Bastards!!
