ReddNob Tuna Can

about 250 shipped
was not impressed with the owner who sold my tuna cans instead of shipping them
got mine 3 week\ks later and he sent 2 of the large instead of one of each
any barrel weight will work, just some better than others

my understanding is Dennis lair in sask f-class gunsmith makes some
(From my pattern I lent him) not sure is he has made any for stock

I have decided to go another route. I have a few Beggs Tuners so I am getting a threaded adapter made that fits the 1/2x20 threads and I can attach the Beggs tuner. Much cheaper way to go versus buying another tuner that might not work like I had hoped.

Thanks for the replies men.

Great idea. I'm gonna make up a tuner on the lathe similar to Beggs for my CZ MTR. I like the Harrel on my BR gun, but they cost in Canada.

I purchased a tuna can, the machining was nice, works smoothly when adjusting it, nice graduation markings, what I didn’t like was the drilled hole for the bore it was drilled from each end and with a miss match in the centre of the bore, I always thought the bore was the most important part when the bullet and gases pass through. My Harrell tuner is like a mirror in the bore no steps, so I had to rework the tuna can bore reaming it out about .02 to get a straight through bore with no steps

Anyone ever try the limbsaver rubber "#### ring" type barrel tuner? :) I picked one up cheap on amazone recently but I haven't tried it yet. Not nearly as fine tunable and repeatable but I thought I'd play around with it shooting .22lr and experiment with cheap barrel harmonic manipulation.

Tikka 2, well that does not sound very precise. The can is not that big a piece of material that requires drilling from both ends. The adapter cost me a bit but less than a can would and I can use the Beggs on my centerfires as well.

I have one that I got last Winter, only tried it a couple times (lotsa snow at the range this year) on my Sav-A22 pencil barrel for a couple 5x-groups. With Fed A-M the group went from ca 1.5-2" without ring to ca 1" with. I didn't mark the barrel but one could using soapstone or such - or just measure and record. I had the tuner about 1.5" back from the muzzle. For ca $12 compared to $200, worth trying . . .

Thanks for the feedback Buck, I will be trying it for sure next time I hit the range.

I have tried two and have a spare one around.
They do serve an improvement but they also serve to protect the muzzle.
Groups over 1" at 100 yards were brought under 1".
More of a hunting rifle application.
All were installed within 3/4" from the muzzle.
They also serve a purpose when your rifle is propped against a wall . . .

I can see the muzzle bumper wall friction keeper aspect being a bonus I suppose, not sure I would bother or not for hunting, I just thought for the price I would play around with it on some .22lr's shooting bulk ammo.... :)
