Yesterday i bought a Redfield 3X9X40 to put on my 243 for 174.00 out of the door, i consider it to be and entry level scope but when i installed it on my 243 i could not beleive the clarity of that Redfield, we will see how it react to recoil but being made by Leopold look like a sweet deal... JP.

Great glass for the money. Recoil from your 243 should not be a problem. I have looked through a few Redfield's and was impressed. Although I do not own one at this time I am considering one for the future.

I've got a couple here that were on rifles I have purchased in the past.
One is a 2x7x? and amazingly clear.
The other is a rimfire with a 3/4" tube.
Old as the hills and I cleaned the fog off the lens and for an old scope again,
amazingly clear.
I'd buy a Redfield before a Tasco any day.
I bought a rifle one day and it had a Tasco scope on it. Told the guy I'd take the rifle only
if he removed the scope.
No frustration to be had that way.
Just my couple of pennies..........

Not all Tasco are equal, actually a couples a year ago i had a failure on my scope on my 308 remmy 700 so i took a 6X24X42 99.00 dollars Tasco Varmint and put it on to finish the day at the range, sigthed in and since never took it off, this scope after 400 shots never lost is zero, not as clear but very reliable, no intention of taking it of since that rig give me under and inch with my reloads and has two deers to is credit... JP.

Just went to the range today to sighted in my new Redfield on my Sako 243, very good scope so good i decided to go to le Baron tomorrow and buy another one in 4X12X40 for 200.00 dollars before there all gone... JP.

First point to clarify things, they are made by Redfield which is owned by Leupold.
Second they are the best in there class and the optics IMO are comparable to Bushy4200 which cost a lot more.
Out in the hunting field this past season I compared it with a freinds Leupold vari-x 111. it was very close in brightness after legal light and yes we were unloaded and just comparing.

Yep i bought a 4X12X40 Redfield two in two day, 3 days ago did not even know that they existed... JP

After shooting a lot yesterday with friends and comparing the Redfield with Bushnell 4200 serie ,i have to say that they are on par for clarity for half the price, it is a sleeper... JP.

they re good for the price but they dont hold with a 4200 buhsnell glass ... take them out while there is no that much sun and some clouds in a grey area and you ll see the difference.

but despite that for the price they re the best kept secret up to now ....

We shoot late last night and i am telling you that it was on par with the 4200 for light gathering and clarity, the 5 of us made the same constatation and we all agree the Redfield is on par with the 4200 when light is going down, i myself is very surprised and on Monday i am going to go and buy a couple more 4X12X40 at 215.00 a piece, when people realise how much of a deal those scopes are the price gone rise and the stock will go down... JP.

Bought a Redfield Revolution 3-9X40 several weeks ago for my .22 mag and finally got it mounted. Went with silver rings just to be different:D

you didnt read my comments ???!!!! try with a cloudy day.

this is not the same optics.

the bushnell 4200 are coming from LOW in Japan and i doubt the redfield are coming of this side of Asia ... the treatments of 4200 for the lenses are really specific like the rainguard. i think the redfield is more like the "old" elite 3200 or the leupold VXI or VXII but the 4200 is really a step over.

your eyes perception is certainly but this is the way the treatment can be made for giving you a better perception than this really.

but at 50 meters or yards try an optic chart and you ll see what im talking about
http://accurateshooter.net/targets/usaf1951x180.gif

i can try a lot of optics here and i can tell the difference and i always for the price give a head up to redfield because for the price they cannot be beat. and for the moment never seen one to be serviced.

and yes the stock is often on the low side.

I will take your advise and compare them on a very cloudy day, you are probably right but the difference must be so small... Cheers. JP.
