Redfield VS Rifleman?

Any experience is appreciated. I've looked at the Redfield scopes at wholesale, and while I like the fact they're made in N America, I find the eye relief "range" incredibly narrow. (just holding it up and looking through it, once mounted it may not be as bad as it seems)

I won't get to see a Leupold rifleman until we get up to Calgary. If you're familiar with both, how would you compare them?

Thanks.

Suka I have you covered. I have Redfield 3x9x40 on my 30-06, my father has a Rifleman on his 270. My Redfield seemed to have enough eye relief in store so I bought it. I have had it for this season and find it to be Blurry and not good for longer ranges. My Pop's Rifleman is much more clear to my eye. I plan to replace it this winter with something else.

I have a cheapo Pineridge 2.5-7.5 on my Muzzle with a diamond Plex site. I love it. I feel so much more confident with it. My dad just bought me another one for Christmas (Daddy loves his son lol) I plan to put my new Pineridge on my 06 this winter and test her out. I am not sure what I will do with my Redfield. I may sell or give her another chance and play around with it a little more. Just my .02 cents bud.

I took a look at the 2-7 Redfield model and found it very clear and sharp after focusing it to my eyes, if they hold up in the long run they would be a one heck of a bargain.

despyzedguy - have you tried to adjust the diopter on the scope to see if it clears up for you?

I did try to adjust. I may send it in. I may have got a lemon?? The reason I bought one was internet reviews and what I saw in the store. If all were blurry I am sure I would have caught wind of that. Thx Jay

If you have one that is blurry it may be that one scope. Comparing the redfield to Nikon and Leupold entry level the Redfield should be sharp as Nikon and brighter than Leupold. The glass is more comparable to Vx11 than rifleman and testing in low light close to
Vx111. I checked this myself as a partner had Vx111 and I had redfield so after legal light
(the guns were unloaded) we looked at bush for clarity and brightness.

Suka,

I own both. I had the Leupold Rifleman in 2-7x33 already and just put a new Redfield 2-7x33 on my new Marlin .243. I like them both and I don't see any difference in optical quality, eye relief, or finish between the two. I would say they were essentially identical, except the price, wherein the Redfield was about $60 cheaper. Both are backed by Leupold's lifetime warranty. I think you would like the Redfield.

BTW, I have the Redfield 3-9x40 on another rifle and it is very nice as well. Again, the fact that it is essentially a Leupold is what sold me.
