nice job man...If you dont want rubber, are you gonna at least get some nice hardwood for the grips? Might look nice with some ebony or something like that...

I am getting some stag grips made soon to finish her off :D

Very nice Crazy_Dave, nice rendition of a Reeder. I really like practical type big bore revolvers like that. Now if only we could pack them into the bush for hunting. Good job!

That looks like a great carry piece. It must be much more comfortable to carry compared to the original long barrel.

I have been debating shortening my SRH .454 Casull from 7.5" to 5" as well.

I'm just concerned about the recoil as the SRH kicks pretty hard with the long barrel as is.

The other concern is muzzle flash in low light conditions. it'll only get worse than this if I chop her to 5".

Have you fired yours yet in low light with heavy loads? I'd be interested in your opinion on how bad the nuzzle flash is.

I have shot it allot, but not much in low light conditions. As far as recoil I dont see all that much differance with heavy loads between the barrel lengths, You feel it either way.

With lighter loads I can tell the differance more for some reason. But either way I am glad I did it and would not hesitate to do it again.

I will be shooting some new loads once again on Saturday evening and will try and take some pics for ya.

:)
