Hi guys,

For those of you that have the ruger redhawk or 629 in 4.2, what are you using for a holster? A bought the galco "dual action outdoorsman", but I find it lacks some rigidity. Feels a little sloppy I guess. Anyone have some other options that they have experience with?

I bought a holster and speedloader pouch from Joe Laroche for my 5.5" Redhawk:

The pics are crappy, but the leather sure isn't. Joe's quality, service and price are excellent.

I have a Ruger holster for my 5.5" Redhawk, and it certainly doesn't lack rigidity. I don't really care for the Ruger logo tooled into it but it came with the gun so is not to be complained of. It is well made, but not as nice looking as mmattockx's Laroche and the reason for that is probably that it isn't as nice and I bet if Ruger still sells them they are cheaper than a Laroche. I was content until I saw those pictures, now that's something else on my list "Just in case I have money that needs to be gotten rid of..."

Thanks for the input guys, I will snoop around. mmattockx, love the look of yours, but I think what I need is the two belt loop style so one can go on either side of the belt loop to eliminate any chance of it sliding forward and back. What I find now is if I am hiking it slides ahead on my hip along my belt, only solution being to put it back behind a belt loop which makes it too far back. All my other holsters have two belt loops, which is great

I'm interested in a 2 loop holster for my 4.2" RH as well, lefty with thumb break strap. Something like this one made by Blackhawk, listed for a 4" so not sure if it works with the 4.2".

I am sure Joe could accommodate that, it is the one weakness mine has.

Thank you! I've been looking for something like that for my Super Blackhawk hunter...is that the SH7? Looks like an extra strap there...and more loops...

Its the SH7B and I had them add 6 more loops. Its a 1.50 US for each additional loop. They will also need your shirt size, the thing is adjustable but im a big bastard so I went with 2xl. Keep in mind what you would be wearing under it.

Not sure how long your redhawk is but my holster was specifically made for a 4.2 inch barrel, however, I could put my model 29 in it. Looked a little silly lol.

Tip for forming leather holsters to guns: Soak holster in hot water, then saran-wrap your revolver, and place it in the holster until it dries.

Not sure. You can ask them, they make them custom.

From your picture it looks like the shoulder strap is adjustable which would take care of raising it up a bit ( unless it's already adjusted max shortness?) .
Hard to see if it's possible to change the cant but that would be a smart design if it could be adjusted.

Just received my Chest holster from Mernickle Holsters. Almost too small, think i went a size bigger in the one above. Oh well now Ill just have to lose some weight lol. Looks more like stomach holster in this pic but it is adjustable and can be moved higher up on the chest.
