"Redi-mag" style setup for the 58

redi-mag systems really only work well with pop-in style mags, not rock in. There is also not a whole lot or real estate around the mag well of a 58 to install a mag holder. It's not impossible though.

Hmm ok, didn't think about that obvious aspect. Then what would your comment be wrt a system that does the same a mag coupler does, is as fast (faster preferably), but keeps s**t out of the mag a la RediMag? Possible/worthwhile or not?

What's wrong with using electrical tape to make "banana" style mags? Too good for electrical tape?

The problem is that the open end of the mags are more likely to collect #### in them which in turn increases the chances of causing a malf.
