Can you even get enough TB into a 223 case to produce that kind of velocity?
Trailboss available again or old stock?
Picked up a couple of 9 oz cans at local gunshop, perhaps I overpaid ($49.99 per can) but if I live long enough, any price I pay will seem crazy cheap eventually
Hodgdon reloading data pager says 4.0gr max for 1100 fps w 55gr bullet. I've used 6.0gr in a 300 BLK with a 150gr bullet for 950 fps. I'm fairy certain you can get at least 6-6.5gr into a 223 case. Just not sure how fast that will push a bullet?

Can fit over 8 grains in my 223 cases without any powder compression. I'd work down from 6 grains if trying subsonic loads, in one of my rifles 55gr jacketed bullets (with no lube) will start sticking near the muzzle with any less than 5 grains trail boss & 5.3 grains got me around 1050fps, 8grs was around 17-1800fps.

22" Savage 11, bullet stuck about 1.5" from the muzzle, about 3 light taps with a cleaning rod to push the bullet out, sounds just like a misfire so pretty easy to tell. When working down to subsonic its best to have a look down the bore if any thing don't seem right.
At under 5 grains the bullets that clear the muzzle I could see dropping in the scope and hitting the ground before the 50 yard target. 5.3 is the min charge I'm comfortable with with jacketed bullets, same report as a 22lr subsonic & decent groups.
One time I loaded 4gr of TB under 55gr nosler ballistic tips out of a 12 twist 24" barrel and those slow tumbling loads produced tears in the paper at 100 yards (it might have been 50 yards now that I've thought about it a bit more but I'm not sure) and not even one clean hole, lol I was kinda blown away I hadn't seen that kind of result before. Anyways I use TB in a few different calibers including 223 and I always fill the cases nearly full without any compressing of the powder it works great definitely would recommend trying it out.
