I'm thinking of getting a PE-90, but I dont like the colour/finsh of most of them. Anyone know if they would be easy to strip and refinish with phosphate / parkerize?

Thanks
John

hold on a second, you are stripping down a more expensive and durable finish to get a cheap park???? Then it will be as cheap as the Sig 556!

Not painting, parkerize, yeah, If I had a blue or red one (they seem to be the cheaper ones) I'd want it to look less like a toy and more like a military rifle.

Pit dog, the one you saw, was it painted or parked?

Ideally I'd like a carbine or CQB, no problem with the look of those.

A gun nut from up north. His user name is something like "O...tak." Anyway he had Murdock? I think that's his handle strip his blue one paint it guncote (sp?).

Like the antique road show says "never strip the finish on it". If you have to paint it at least future generations have a chance to restore it. ;)

IIRC the finish on the swiss arms is the best tested in the world

Otokiak got a sweet deal on a "Bluestar" that he had redone in gunkote. Looks great and even with the added cost of getting the rifle refinished, he made out like a bandit.

Doesn't matter the colour, all PE-90s are the same price.

I had "murdoc" on the board paint my BLUESTAR in OD green and matching scope/rings to boot ... it is ARMACOAT and it holds up great. I couldn't handle the smurf blue color so I had it re-done. I'll post pics later as I'm at work right now and it won't let me open my photobucket page to post pics. If you can find a Sig Arms rifle for a good price, murdoc does top knotch work and the expense was worth it in my eyes. Cheers,

There you go! My bad on the Armacoat! As I said before, Otokiak's looks awesome and according to him, its holding up extremely well. However, I don't think I'd consider a refinish of a Classic Green or Black Special unless it was absolutely necessary.
