Refinished a beat up SVT(56k beware)

Knock the finish down with some steel wool and it will look a little better, looks a little too glossy. I used to like new shiny finishes on milsurps but your better off to leave em unless bubbaed beyond hope.

yeah i know its a bit too glossy, i used some outdoor sealer, cause I shoot in the winter and figured a bit of waterproofing never hurt anybody.

what do i do with the steel wool?

Heres the story. I bought an SVT-40 sight unseen from a guy my friends knew. He assured me it was a bit rough but cycled properly and has a good bore. So I bought it. When I picked it up I found that it was pretty rough, but with a bit of work I think I have breathed some new life into this old girl.
Last thing I am waiting for is a unaltered magazine.

After some sandpaper, stain, sealant, some new parts, paint and alot of time.

This was my first time doing any sort of wood refinishing let alone a stock. I am open to criticism, I know its not perfect.

I see it so often now...
a Gun is exposed on a used bed with wrinckled bed sheets !!
whats wrong with you guys ? why don't you get a real girl friend?????

As long as you have one (or 2 or 3) M44 on top of the SVT, you are good to go. :D

Looking for a SVT40 myself, paased up on one 2 months ago which I should have bought in hindsight.

Enjoy, nice job!

i dont have m44 yet. I do have an 91/30 tho

its on my list with about 12 other guns.....all in good time. I just bought a bushmaster so I have to slow down for a bit now. Ive only had my license 4 months.....
