It was kinda dinged up and that really dark Russian colour with lots of blotches they obviously just randomly hit it with a brush on the production line to get it done. I like it better this way. Sorry no before pics, I have a tendency to just dive into things.

That looks awesome, would love to do the same to one of mine, can u go into detail a little more of the process u went through to get it looking so nice?

Just got done lookin at my old nail..........
Its time for a makeover, be well pleased if it comes close to your finish.
Will post later...............if it works LOL

Anybody know how to get rid of chicken#### stains on the stock ?...Seriously.

The wood on the stock has an amazing grain on it. The only thing I would do, if it were mine, is put a vented hand guard on it. The wood is not near as nice on the hand guard as the stock. Once again very nice.

Great job but when you put 100 rounds through the gun and it gets hot
the cosmoline deep inside the wood is going to wake up and rise
to the surface like a ugly monster, then what?

I stripped mine down with varnish stripper, mineral spirits, light sand and then Linseed oil
knowing full well the cosmoline could return.

I followed this guys protocol even though I worked as a carpenter for 7 years,
it made sense to me.

Our camera is caput and we will be buying a new one soon.

I hope for your sake there is no cosmoline left in the grains of
your stock.

We'll see, I had the stock in the oven for an hour and a half wiping cosmoline off every 15 min, I think i got the bulk of it. But I know how that crap is.

At what temperature does cosmoline wake up
and start wondering around.

The danger for you is due to the fact that you have encapsulated the wood
meaning it cant breath anymore,
this will make Mr Cosmoline angry because now you have put him in jail
and when your gun gets hot he will form into a angry Boil or large Zit that
will explode sending hot cosmoline into your right eye and burning it so bad
that you will loose the eye and they will have to cut it out and push in a purple
marble as a replacement/false eye.
