Swivel studs not old; but it doesn't look bad overall for a user. A good bore is most important to me.

Mechanically excellent. Bore a wee bit frosty, but strong rifling. Should be an excellent shooter. My OP was not clearly stated as a question. I'm thinking this rifle has been completely refinished. What say?

Nice unit & the Uncle Mikes swivels ain't bad either. That one be a 30 US stamped version I reckon. (30-40 Krag.)

30-40 Krag. By week's end I shall have everything in hand to load up some rounds. Nothing too warm as the max pressure rating for these old relics is 40k CUP. Just debating bullet weight with a fellow hand loader at present.
Well, Looky, it's a long way from original so a shooter (as Rob noted) it shall be. Besides, a sling is necessary on a 10 pound rifle.

150 grain Hornady SSTs over 43 grains (starting) of Win 760 today and a nice little group on a quick outing in the woodlot with the relic. Function is as it should be. Very pleased. My new (sitting on a watch) deer rifle for the woodlot.
