I started with a plain Marlin 30as, pretty dinged up, and it had an ugly birch stock. It also has a super smooth action, a great trigger and is a really good shooter, so I thought it was a good candidate for a makeover.
Here is how it started:
I always like blonde wood on rifles, It's just too bad the birch doesn't have a nicer grain. I also added a Leupold VXII 1x4 on Leupold one piece base and rings.
This is how it looks now:
I used Minwax Wood Finish Stain 210b, and satin Minwax Polyurethane.
