Yes, my hunting partner redid his with Schaftol. It looks really good.

He used "dark". I use it for maintenance on my Steyr-Mannlicher and have also stripped a Sako L61R stock and refinished that.

x2 and let the stripper do the work. The Remington finish is really tough.
If you don't mind disclosing your secret what brand/type of stripper is effective on these high gloss finishes.
Polystripper, and Circa 1867, doesn't effect these finishes enough to remove them in my experience.
Heat to make the finish very brittle and then scrapping has been the only effect way I have found so far.
But if you have found an over the counter stripper that will remove this stuff I and alot of folks would appreciate knowing what it is.
