After havin another look at the one from numrich , it has broad arrow above the e inside the d, then a small crown with somthing under cant make it out but looks the same as the inspection markes onthe rifle . So im not sure looks orig but its never been fit to anything before thats forsure...

These marking are outside below the nose cap just under the stacking swivel mount. Op sorry for highjack does your forend smell? Mine came smelling of linseed oil, acetone will clean it up and open the pores up too before oiling it,its not very harsh just evaporates very fast.you may want to use it to get the linseed out before putting the tung oil on top if thats the case, im not sure if it would matter im no expert thats forsure!

the reason im sayin i dont think they are from India or POF is because they are so nicely made.and have the inspectors marks where they should be inside(barrel channel) and outside .the Indian and POF wood on their own military firearms are always sort of heavy and unfinished looking ..it works but isnt up to british fit and finish standard ..sorry for the hijack ...yes boiled linseed oil not the straight type ..
I have purchased 5 or 6 over the last couple of months. Used 3 and squirreled the rest away. All were dip stained and all were marked as mentioned. With one exception, they all had minor water damage to the stain and some had other signs of long storage. The damage to the stain was inconsequential since I had to do some color matching anyway. All in all, I found them to be of excellent quality and condition (water marks excepted). I could be wrong, but I believe them to be old stock Enfield made. When I made my first purchase, they had 1000 in stock. Wishing I had bought more!
Just spoke with Numrich Int'l sales. These are indeed reported to be new military old stock - not reproductions. I was told they currently have over 900 of the ones not inlet for volley sights in stock and 14 of the ones inlet for volley sights. As I recall, Numrich had the inletting for volley sights done. It's odd they are less expensive.

Beautiful NOS forends gift from Britain to Greece 1945 along with complete Mk IIIs. 2011 Greece orders all remaining gov surplus sold. Will be last we will see 1,000 unused almost 100 yr old forstocks available for sale. Or will we? One guy in England has 2,000 NOS #4 Handguards for sale right now.
I saw Enfield inspector and EFD's, BSA Birmingham B, Two Fazakerly F56's. English walnut, European Beech, Coachwood soft and scented even got a Rosewood on rifle.
