Refinishing Question

I need some help:

I have a old beater pistol that has some pitting and original finish is less than desirable.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to what tools, and or equipment I will need to refinish the pistol, and where I can get them?

I have a couple of these WWII pistols and want this one to be a shooter, but want it to look a little better.
The pistol is a Polich Radom (late ware second series) and if anyone has any ideas on what the original wartime condition of this pistol would have been would be great as well? (blued, parkarized, ect)

By the time you buy everything you need, you will have spent at least twice what a shop would charge - that's conservative (not to mention it still won't look as good).
