Kurgan, that's bare, parkerized steel. Most all of the refurbs that got bbq painted were parkerized beforehand to give the paint more tooth. They didn't bother parking the gas tubes, though.
I agree, it does look nice. Makes all the hassle of strippinng the paint well worth it.
Wow,ok...I have to overwork one of my SKS woods,that was the answer to what I was looking for...didn't imagine a non laminate would come out that beautiful! After all a lot of potential in every SKS it seems...
