I accidently put this in the battle riffle forum but meant to put it here.

I am trying to decide on an optic solution for my poly tech m305 (chicom m-14 clone) in win 308. I will be using this gun from 20 yards to 250 yards. My M14 is bone stock at the moment but can shoot 1.5 moa with the crap open sights. Optics should close up the groups to 1.25 -1 moa I think. If not this is still acceptable for what I am doing

I will be using this as my go to gun for:

Beavers at 20-80 yards moving target
Coyotes 20 - 200 yards moving target
Stalk hunting deer, moose, elk 50- 200 yards
Push hunting deer, moose, elk 0 -200 yards possible close in moving target
Stand hunting bear 30-80 yards

Road hunting, open field stand hunting or any longer range hunting I will use a 300win mag with a 4-14 scope

SO with all the details out of the way I am thinking a holo sight with a flip over 3-4x magnifier may be a better solution than a standard scope for quick target acquisition on multiple moving targets such as a close in valley deer push and yotes. However I don't have ANY practical experience with these types of sights other than what I have read. I want the magnifier for 100-200 yard shots and for coyotes and beavers as they can sometimes present a very small target.

As well how does a holo sight with a magnifier compare to a standard 30mm 22 scope in very low light conditions? I assume it is poor as compared to a 40mm objective, but I hope it is better than the naked eye.

I have a tendecy to hunt water rodents to the edge of legal hunting time from bush cover so very low light conditions.

So any advice from hunters with working knowledge of these types of optics would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer to try to learn from others instead of wasting money and these systems ain't cheap.

PS I understand I am totally unethical in all my hunting methods and chicom guns are only good for using as a club b:

I would either just get a red dot like the Aimpoint M3 2 MOA or get a nice small fixed 2.5x scope. Personally, I think scoping M14 rifles are a pain and the stock isn't the best for a good cheek weld. I would just get some nice NM sights and shoot her with peeps out to 200m, if you can see it you will hit it... 308 is a nice flat shooting rd.
