Hey Everyone,

I'm semi-new to posting here I have been skulking around in the shadows and on the EE for a while but I was wondering some differing opinions. I am currently upgrading my 870 again but am stumped on its final choice for what type of sights.

I always liked the reflex sight idea on a shotgun but it never seems practical enough.

I am mainly thinking of larger ones like the Bushnell Holosight or Eotech since the fast fire and speed bead seems too small for my liking.

But either way, please comment and let me know what you guys all think or if you’ve had experience.

As well if anyone feels free to comment on using an AR15 870 MKIII style from S&J I would love to hear how irritatingly heavy that is :)

Thanks in advance.

ghost ring sights are very fast, and easily capable of more accuracy than a smoothbore shotgun is able to give you.... therefore what is the point of adding a reflex sight?
shotguns (for me at least) are all about durability and simplicity. i dont like the idea of introducing electronic components that - however high quality - can fail, run out of batteries, break, etc. you can also run into cheek weld problems after adding a rail and something like an Eotech.
IMO a set of tritium GR sights are all you need on a smoothbore shotgun, save the Eotechs for your rifles.

See for me its both but I figured the reflex would be the best solution for both since its a lot like a bead sight in a way.

I do a lot of slugs but I am working unrifled and am just getting use to being acurate with buck shot.

I'll have to agree with the previous poster. Ghost rings are fast and accurate and not subject to going off if smacked. They are everything you need for smoothbore slugs and buckshot.

I used a Doctor Optik on a Fabarm Martial with good results. It is light and mounts low enough there were no cheek weld issues. It was durable and batteries lasted more than one year. Never used it for shooting pigeons though.

Yeah the issue of cheek weld did make me double think a few things but the Knoxx stock i have on the 870 has a nice $50 add on called the power pack that I was told comes with two different cheek weld adjustments which could solve this problem as well.
