Due to the insanely high price of .257 Weatherby Mag brass I did an internet search on reforming 7mm Rem Mag brass to .257 Weatherby brass.

As far as I can tell (given all the "experts" out there) is the proceedure is very simple...just lube the case and run it into the .257 die, trim and load. Outside neck reaming is said to be unenecessary and the OAL of the reformed brass will be shorter.

My question is for those who have ACTUALLY done this
1) Given the final product will actually be shorter have you experienced any excess throught erosion?
2) Any problems encountered loading the light wieght bullets (75 & 87 grn)
3) Any major accuracy deviations?
4) Any insights in forming process (do's/ don'ts)?
5) Anyone try this with .300 Win Mag brass...what were the results?

Any info would be greatly appreciated (no armchair ballisticians please)

i did it with a bag of 7mm rem brass. i didnt loose one case through the whole prosess i did use to much lube on a few and had some dents in the cases but they iron out with the first shot.

I resize 7mm rem mag to 7mm Weatherby. Did 70 cases recently. Ran the cases into the die with a bit of lube (unique). I then used the cornmeal tecnique for some fireforming loads and have some very nice 7mm Weatherby cases with necks that are a little short. They shoot fine.

Thanks for the input to date.
Given a slightly reduced case capacity are you folks still running published charge weights?
Anyone have a favorite load for the 87 grn bullets using reformed brass?
