I have had two, a Czech and a Romanian. They're great rifles, considered by some collectors to be the best of the 98 type. They've been through the Russian refurbishment process (all the ones I've seen anyway) and most of them lost the crest on the receiver. I think P&S militaria still has both flavors and a few Czechs with their coat of arms intact.

They were both fine. IIRC they shot a little tighter than the M48BO I had at the same time.
I moved them on when the supply of Yugo surplus dried up as I wasn't reloading 8mm then.

I had one a few years ago, and believe me they are not this great.
The bore was very dark, took me over a week to clean, finally I gave it up...
The crest is ground off on most of them and they are refinished, so the collector's value is close to nothing.
Got a Yugo from Marstar's sale and it is like new, makes a great shooter.

LOL sounds like you got a winner!
I got the Czech from Tradeex and the Romainain from JP @ P&S. Both were fairly greasy but nothing out of the ordinary. Crisp lands and frosty grooves.
Standard milsurp fare and nothing a little solvent and elbow grease couldn't deal with.

Well Withey07, I am not a "real" collector like others on CGN but i like mine a lot. Go it from Tradex a few years back and beside the fact she shoots 10" over the target at 100 yds, she is the real deal. Here is some pics so you can see for yourself wath kind of VZ tradexx sells.

i just got mine yesterday. it came from tradex. it looks just like the one in post # 9 except mine is a romainian contract model. the crest has been partialy ground off. i am looking forward to putting a few rounds thru it to see how good it groups. where can i by an 8mm bore brush ? no shops around here have them in stock.
