Gretings,
Looking for some advise as to how to proceed with updating my 2 AR 15s from receiver/frame only status to completed rifles. Have finished complete lower receiver builds and bought necessary parts for one complete upper assembly. I put this one together myself with info from online AR 15 sites. The
second upper assembly I bought preassembled. I am concerned about going to the range/gunclub with my current certificates showing as " receivers". If anyone else has been through this procedure I would appreciate any advise or feedback.
Cheers

It took me 6 years to get my registration amended from Frame/Receiver only to a complete firearm. In that time I shot it quite a bit and then sold the uppers and now have only a Frame/Receiver left...

Because I ran several uppers on one lower I would always transport the lower not attached to the upper. I usually just grabbed the lower and whatever upper or two (or three:p) I fancied at the moment and threw them into a case. I assembled them at the range and when I was done shooting they were disaasemble and takin home. The lower is always transported without an upper. This way I don't have to commit to a specific upper.;)

If this were the difference between having a Non-Restricted and a Prohibited depending on configuration I'd get it sorted out ASAP!

But... having a Restricted & then re-registering it as a Restricted... well, I guess if your weapons are seized you'd be forced to submit the uppers as part of the offering.

Good luck on that ;)

Good point. I understand that you have 30 days to register if you permanently alter the lower, but since its a system that allows you to maintain a lower and seperate upper ... why bother? I would just store them as seperates.

If you purchase and complete lower, not a stripper lower, is it still a frame/receiver only?

I like the idea of my AR being registered as a lower only.

3 minutes with the CFC had my AR frame into a full gun. Why the holdup?

Back then you had to fill out paperwork and mail it in to Ottawa for processing. After the first year went by I called to inquire about the status and was told it was still being processed. After year number two I was told it was still being processed so I stopped checking and forgot about it until the new reg slip arrived.
