I had a thought/idea recently and after some light research I couldnt find an answer so here it goes.....
Is there a rifle mountable system that uses laser as a range finder that could be linked to an red dot style optic that would correct the reticle (likely restricted to elevation correction) as well as show range and elevation humidity ect....essentially a laser dope calculator that adjust the reticle for you in layman's terms lol
More I think about it the more uneasy feeling I have :/

Maybe something from meprolight? Not sure if the MOR does it but I seem to recall them having something like that.

Could be thinking of stuff from shotshow that never made it to market tho.

That ngsw is almost exactly what I was thinking about. Is this the first time something like this has been created? Surely this isn't a new technology....laser guidance has been around a while now...its a very interesting concept...terrifying also

Its been done a bunch in rifle scope, just don't think its all that practical at ranges you would be using a red dot at.

IIRC tracking point was the first to market in 2013 with a scope that calculated and adjusted reticle on the fly.

That's pretty impressive, if you added a thermal targeting system to something like that, that could lock on to a heat signature you could really be a threat in battle. I wonder how long it's going to take before they integrate AI into optics...kinda takes the fun out shooting if you ask me

Well, if it were me and I knew I was up against such a system I'd be a bit more hesitant to go to war...probably opt for diplomacy lol

There's a Steiner scope (can't recall which model) that will interface with a Wilcox Raptar (or other weapon-mounted LRFs like the MARS, I believe) and will overlay a disturbed reticle. I also think some of the UTC thermal clip-ons can interface (via Trac-IR) with a Raptar or similar an overlay a disturbed reticle or aiming point. The NGSW is the first I know of that is being fielded.

The people sending you to war are rarely on the fields of battle themselves. IF that were to change , in my opinion we would see less war.

Elon Musk is alleged to have predicted 1 billion humanoid robots within the next twenty years.

Humanoid robot warriors just seem like a giant waste of money....you'd have a bunch of robocop looking things marching into battle like the war of 1812 lol j/k
Obviously that wouldn't be the case but I feel like you could fight a war much cheaper than that especially when your government is advocating that we can't sustain the 8billion people we have....its a great way to kill 2 birds with one stone. You eliminate a bunch of hungry mouths and the resistance to the robot takeover would be less severe due to lesser numbers. Where did I leave my tinfoil hat dammit....
