? Regarding OAL and Barrel lengths

Hey guys. First post here hopefully this is the correct section for this.
I'm looking to build a 10/22 platform firearm. I'm getting conflicting info on the legality of doing so.
Our wonderful government makes it so confusing and seems to always change the rules.
According to my research for rimfire rifles barrel length isn't an issue, the rcmp only cares about OAL. BUT I just got off the phone with a local store, and they're telling me the legal minimum barrel length is 18.5" because it's a semi... Any experts that can clear this up for me?

Thanks for the reply. I'm just hoping to find the most recent and applicable info available. The stores comment about 18.5" barrels threw me for a bit of a loop.
So I can legally buy a 10/22 with a factory 18.5" barrel and put a 12" on it, so long as the OAL is over 660mm?
 
Rimfire barrel length doesn’t matter, as long as the overall length including stock is 26 inches or longer.
I’m even thinking to get a cute little 10” charger barrel 🤣

the gov explanation is not confusing or changes very often as for this site and individual interpretation now that is all over the map

Shop is wrong. That only applies to centerfire semi autos. Barrel length does not matter for rimfires. As long as the OAL is 26inch.
