Relax boys! Breathe through the nose.
The data is marked as a SUBSET of the registry. That means, no not everyone is there and if you don't find yours that means it is not public knowledge. Thank your lucky stars.
"The information in this database (the "Service") is a subset of all information contained within Canada's National Gun Registry, and was obtained by the Ottawa Citizen from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police ("RCMP") through the Access to Information and Privacy Act.
....
The Service contains listings for more than 7 million firearms that were legally registered in Canada, as of November 2006. Because of privacy provisions, the records do not include the owners' names or addresses, but do include the first two characters of their postal codes. The RCMP has indicated that releasing more than two characters could risk identifying the locations of firearms in smaller communities. "
Two things strike me as unacceptible:
a) for the sake of privacy and courtesy, I will self-censor because a search for ### rifles found a misregistration of a full auto or converted auto as a nonrestricted. If I repeat this on the net, the Pony Boys will go visit some fellow who registered his ### in good faith. Not his fault that the database doesn't cross match.
b) search for "303" bolt action rifles. There are some hilarious descriptions in English and French. Rifles registered with the British proofhouse stamps as the model number, surly 'looks old to me' remarks, and plenty of 'armee' as the model. Very comical! And worth pointing out to the feds.
