Registered part?

A question out of curiosity...

On a pistol what would the registered part be?

For example, on an M4, the lower receiver is the registered part.

I assume it would also be the part of the handgun with the serial number stamping, but on Glocks, and a few other makes, the barrel, slide and lower are stamped with the serial numbers.

The frame is the registered part of a pistol. Serial number has very little if anything to do with what the CFC/RCMP considers a firearm.

I'm not sure why this topic has come up several times in the last week, there are several recent threads asking this exact same question. As someone else pointed out in one of the other threads, European firearms have different serial number rules which is why European firearms tend to have more serialized parts.
