Hello everyone,

I've been trying to plan out my summer shooting for sporting clays and I want to build on my skills and experience more targets. From my searching on NSCA website, Losttarget and going to individual clubs websites, I can only find registered shoots at Oshawa.

I know I have Galt in my backyard but if I'm spending $60 on a round, I might as well go for $80 and know those targets count.

Currently I've found planned non registered shoots at Sydenham Sportsmen Association, Twin Cities Rifle, Wilmot Trap, and Galt.

Is there any clubs I am missing or will I have to head to New Brunswick for the closest registered targets outside of Oshawa?

Thank you.

Otter valley has two shoots a month, check their web site for dates, Good course, hunters clay, no 65 yard targets out of a three story tower , but we make it fun anyway. starts at 9:00 and we are most times done by noon. Good bunch of guys and only 35$ a 100 targets. located to Ks east of Stratfordville on Plank line. Tell them your fist time shooter at otter and you get targets for members rate at 25$. Earing and eye protection mandatory. Hope to see you there, Cheers

This thread is going to help me immensely, as I'm just starting to get into the sport myself, and from the same area. Thank you.
If my PAL would hurry up and show up online, I'd have a better idea of when I can start to put my schedule together.

I did not know about this course! that's awesome that is it both affordable and close to an hour from my place (the wife-to-be appreciates both of these things).

You and me both! I can give you the dates for Wilmot and Twin cities if you are interested, but I warn you... this is addictive. I proposed to my work's health and wellness committee a company wide trap shoot as a get out and be active/meet and greet.

Oxford Sportsman's Club, south of Ingersoll has just started throwing sporting clays targets. We have shoots scheduled for May 21st and June 18th. The targets will be very reasonable as this is a work in progress and we are trying to improve the targets and facilities and keep the costs as low as possible. We will appreciate constructive criticism.

Yes please, if you don't mind.
Twin Cities is on my list of clubs to try and select from to get on the waiting list to become a member at, but i need this damn PAL first.

Thank you! I just added them to my calendar, I might be able to do those.

Looking to be a pretty wet shoot on Sunday at Twin City, I'm a member out there and actually volunteer to open the trap and skeet fields each Sunday afternoon when there isn't a shoot scheduled. Always looking to meet other shooters in the Kitchener area it would be nice to get a regular group together for these shoots.

Calling for wet snow now!

These are excellent and very popular shoots. I've been to most of them. Pack your patience as it can sometimes be a long wait for the squads ahead of you to get through.

Ask you local club to throw a reg'd shoot. the CNSCA board are excellent to work with. they supply the scoring system and medals for classes.
CNSCA, its the Canadian way.

I wish. I check both the cnsca website and the nsca websites once a month for shoots. I'm not familiar with the clubs course setters yet. If I can start figuring out who to talk to I'll get on it!

When the summer hits, Bridgeport stops their Sunday trap shoots and I've gone to twin city for wobble skeet which just makes me laugh. Not a fan of their trap field, but wobble skeet is a great time.

NSCA is a foreign (US) organization. We have CNSCA which is Canadian. Some Ontario shooters that shoot in the US have set NSCA shoots. If you wish to shoot any Grand Prix, Continental GP, Euro National or a World FITASC Sporting, you must be a member of CNSCA. Only CNSCA has a license for FITASC Sporting and Compak in Canada. CNSCA has a better classification system that works with averages after each shoot. Unfortunately, CNSCA shoots in Eastern Canada are very rare. I only shoot "Hunter" at NSCA shoots in the US. I do not want my Canadian money supporting a foreign organisation as I don' t have to do this in Europe or Africa.

You don't have to belong or otherwise pay your Canadian money to a dreaded foreign organization to shoot any of those international sporting events?

NSCA is owned by the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA). They are the governing body for registered (American) skeet shooting throughout the world. I'm not overly familiar with what the NSCA does or doesn't do in Canada aside from sanctioning . They are very definitely a US organization and often don't see beyond the borders, however I do know that the NSSA sends me money every year to run a championship exclusively for non-Americans ($1000USD)

I don't really understand the NSCA bashing. It seems to be the primary organization for sanctioned events on the east side of Canada. If the Western guys found a better way to do it themselves, then good for them (seriously). Maybe it is similar to PITA and ATA? I don't know. Any organization involved within Canada (not just based in Canada) that is promoting the shooting sports deserves our support.

Brad.

Isn't FITASC a foreign organization??
When shooting FITASC in the states you don't need to be cnsca, as a Canadian with NSCA membership is all you need.
Which organization is putting on the Canadian Nationals??
There are no cnsca shoots in the east or in the central part of Canada!
