Registering an unregistered firearm

I know a number of older people that have owned long guns their entire life as they are farmers, none of which are registered. Would i be able to purchase these guns from them and register them and make them completely legal? What i'm also worried about is what if the gun i ended up with was involved in some sort of crime, would i be in trouble?

Thanks

I would hold off on acquiring the firearm. Come September, the long gun registry will be a thing of the past and you will be able to take possession of the unregistered firearm without having to lose any sleep over it.

Gee, it's good to laugh sometimes!

I agree with you 100%... The cops here in Quebec would bust your ass real fast if they caught you with anything concerning unregistered firearms.

If people only knew the degree of disregard/disrespect/disgust Quebec police (read: SQ/CFO) have for firearms owners it would knock you on your butt!

Yup, we are all vile and despicable, and yet you wonder why we sometimes are less than supportive of "law enforcement individuals".

There exists a very real "Us" vs "Them" mentality in Quebec law enforcement. I of course can not speak for the rest of Canada, but I have lots of historical experience here in Quebec.

The Quebec CFO once told me that, "He would unhesitatingly bust one of his own, if caught infringing the firearms laws in Quebec". We were of course talking about carrying "off duty". Talk about pure cannibalism.
