The CFO cant prove either of you right or wrong.

The CFO has no authority to interperate the law only enforce the firearms act. A judge would have to make the decision in federal court.

I agree. I think the literal interpretation of the word "possess" might just be the key in the eyes of a judge.
I've never heard of a test case either and I don't think any body from the "close enough camp" is going to put their money where there mouth is anytime soon.
And if there hasn't been a test case then, it's just another example of another useless law.
