Regular 10 round 100M/Y Rimfire Challenge

Testing my LOT of Eley/Remington Match. Shooting off a bench with a front bipod and a rear bag, pretty much my Rimfire PRS setup. I'm very satisfied with the results at 50 yards and at 100 yards is good enough for my needs. I'm sure my rifle setup is capable of tighter groups with a proper front and rear rest. Not using the barrel tuner with this ammo. For whatever reason my rifle setup shoots tighter groups without the tuner and not going to waste this ammo going down the rabbit hole.

Measurements was done using the Ballistic-X app.

Data using a Shooting Chrony.

Those ES numbers are pretty good. I doubt there is a whole lot left in you setup to improve groups. Did you find the ES of various ammo tightened up with the Lilja barrel vs the stock barrel?
 
Since installing the Lilja barrel my primary ammo was just CCI SV. Any data I collected was just for the average velocity for my dope. I do have some data for some various Eley ammo but it was just 5 or 10 shots for average velocity.

Going to call my supplier to see if they have another 5000 Rds of this LOT number. The 50 yards groups with this LOT is around 0.300". Yesterday's 5 x 7 averaged 0.254"

Extreme spread is the difference between the fastest and slowest rounds in the string.

The ES figures recorded on the target itself seem unusual. From left to right, the target has ES recorded as 24.91, 18.44, 12.97, and 15.86.

How have those figures been determined?

Fyi I shot the target oriented 90 degrees from how it's displayed here. The Bushnell scope is actually setup coincidentally so that its zerod at 50m and the next lower dot is perfectly zeroed at 100m with this ammo, really lucky it worked out like that.

Was a little hard to get a great sight picture with the 4x but worked well enough.

Force is the best ammo I've found so far. Shoots a lot better than Club and about twice as tight as CCI HV. Will try SV too though.
 
If there isn't any iron sight shooters ( I broke my rolling block so I won't be using that ) I might turn that into a 4x class. Since I'm pretty sure other than 3-9x, 4x scope is the most common scope mounted on a rimfire.

Nice shooting, esp with only a 4X. What would the group be without that flier on the bottom? HA I know that range :D
 
Did another 100 yard group this afternoon but this time with the CCI SV in the light blue box. Same rifle and shooting set up but with light winds blowing.

The ROC, those ES figures in the targets in post #27 continue to appear unusual, with the numbers again showing two decimal places as they did in the target posted earlier. Extreme spread is the difference between the fastest and slowest rounds in a string. How are you calculating those ES figures?

Yeah it was really hot down there today. In the shade it was tolerable but the open sun was pretty intense. I was shooting some steel too and some of the plates got so hot after laying on the ground I had to move them quickly.

The 4x was a bit of a limiter, found I needed to break my gaze or "swoop" onto the dot a few times cause steadying out I was losing it. Honestly though the stock trigger was the thing I noticed the most, definitely need to get a trigger job or a reasonable priced drop-in.

Haha have I thrown enough excuses out there yet?

Ha... Nope, just a regular person..
 
Ran the challenge with two rifles today but will go with the Ruger 10/22 first.
The 12 power is fine as the shots are visible and errant shots are easily tracked.
Takes a bit of getting used to when reducing to 12X but a few years ago I use 9X just to prove it can be done.
I used Remington Eley Match, Eley Tenex Biathlon, and Eley Match Biathlon.
The TENEX averaged 1.564 and the Match Biathlon average was 1.903
This test was for the Ruger 10/22, Dlask 920 barrel, a Kidd trigger kit and a Bushnell 6-24 x 40 AO.
Distance 100 yards. Slight wind and early enough the temp did not exceed 20 degrees C.
Groups: 1.308, 1.102 and 1.534. Average: 1.315"

Nice shooting. See it is nice to challenge yourself by shooting at a lower magnification.
 
Back to the range for Rifle Night and no one else was there. Using my Cooper M57 Montana Varminter and a Sightron 8-32 x 56 scope, one target was shot at 32X and three at 12X.

At higher powers one is more inclined to watch the wind and can see minor changes in POI. At 12X one is more inclined to focus on the POA with increased concentration. At 12X one is unable to see where a shot went exactly unless it is a flyer. Being able to distinguish which hole is the last shot and identifying two or three shots in the same hole is advantageous.

Which one was shot at 32X?

Cmon people, challenge yourself. I expected way more entries, with a much laxed set of rules.

I've been practicing and I'm getting closer to constant 3-4" groups, in windy conditions.

Bulk ammo was getting me around 6.5". Where some target ammo, was getting me like 3.2-3.75"
