So these three have been hanging around for the last month in the yard. They are so tame the were bedded down 50 ft in front of my wife as she sat at a picnic table. As well last friday another cow and a bull hung around the house for the whole day. There is an open draw tag season around here but I just can't bring myself to shoot any of them. ( pic was taken yesterday)

good to see the critters about the yard eh?
we get the odd moose or cow n calf pair hanging about our place in the winter every year we have been here.
Don't see them around any other times but there is some good browse in my back 1/2 acre so they usually stick around for a couple days and wander off.
They are safe from me and the wolves won't come around here so they are more than a welcome sight whenever they do pass through,

I think she was here last year with a single calf. ( assuming it is the same cow) . I hope they stay out of sight from the road hunters and can make the winter. ( I will make sure the coyotes don't find them lol...)

open the shed doors.....they can stay in there when the trucks drive by

Update: The farm in the picture is my inlaws place. My MIL just phoned and she looked out the kitchen window this morning to see five bulls gathered around a garden pond that is only about 40 yards from the kitchen window. Sadly no pictures. Hopefully they are still around in a couple days when we are back out there. I can see why this is happening as this is pretty open farm country and the yard site has a lot of younger trees. That and maybe the cow that lives there is heating up.

Right now I am banging my head on the wall for not putting in for the moose draw.

It is a weird phenomenon that has happened in Sask. There just seems to be a population explosion in farm country. The last few years I have seen all kinds on the farm and just travelling back and forth. This year has been unreal.

I really need to show my MIL how to take pictures and send them with her phone. Just got off the phone with her and those bulls hung around for a while and they were all around the house. One even had a busted off antler from fighting.

Wish I was there today but that work thing always seems to get in the way. lol...

Trail cam might make for some good shots as well.

Thanks for posting those pics. I live in SE SK, about 80 miles east of Regina, on HWY 1. When I was a kid, the only moose we saw was in books. Now, they are all over the place. We have draw seasons here, unheard of 50 years ago. I have never put in for anything around here, save for moose up North back in the early 1970’s.

Likely 15 years ago (2005 or so), was South of Carnduff, Sask. looking for white tail. Very first bush that son and I ran had two moose come out - we were within 4 or 5 miles of USA border! To us, just crazy to have moose that far south - when I grew up in 1960's in Saskatchewan, moose were an animal from the "North" - like at least North Battleford - Prince Albert - Hudson Bay!! So what did I know...

Ditto. I have been hunting in the province for around 35 years mainly around Dinsemore outlook and southwest of there. Last time I was down there for mule deer I saw more moose than deer. Folks say they came south because of the wolf population up north, or because of fires, etc.. It would be nice to know why because they certainly have done well.

Could be that supply of tasty green canola pods and flowers. lol... Or maybe that big apple tree growing in the back. They seem to like munching on those.

Plus mule deer are spreading. Local C/O told a work colleague that there are absolutely no mule deer around Prince Albert and area. Funny how I see mulies up close on a regular basis when I walk the dog around the golf course. But what do I know. Must be teenagers catching white tails and pulling on their ears and painting black tips on their tails.

If we can have a few more decent winters the province will be crawling with game again like the old days. ( Go global warming !!!!! )
