Wolf is made at the Tula Cartridge Works Plant (according to their website) which is on the NRCan approved list, so what's the problem?

wolf - my experiences

It's garbage, nothing more. Very inconsistant and some loads are varying in pressures.

Any tests I've read (old ones) said its o k . I picked up about 8000 rds of both the solid and hollow point from the very last container of new manufacture that sat in new york harbour for about a year and have been testing it . I found it to be accurate and reliable - more so than czech surplus corrosive. As to unavailability - I have heard that the entire assembly line production was bought up by the amerikans to supply the Iraqi army and police for when the yanks leave (if they ever do).

Any one else out there using wolf ?

I used to cross the border and buy cases of the stuff, and it was good for what it was, but it's not target ammo. I sent an email to Wolf in the last few months asking if there was anyone selling it up here, and the response was no, and there is no intention to for the forseeable future.

My experience with Wolf is limited to .45, but it worked pretty well for me. I will happily purchase more in the future, and would love to see it as an option.

Yes but why can't we import it, it seems like it should be the same stuff as what is on the approved list just in a different box?

If it's been approved by NRCAN there's nothing preventing you from importing it providing US State Dept. approves the export.

Knowing Russian manufacturing sector as I know it, any ammo made in Russia is only going to be consistent within a batch. Between the batches it's going to be as different as Norinco from Winchester or PPU from Rem.
With my luck I got a batch that can't hit side of a barn, but that's still better than a batch that someone I know got in Russia: with one out of 100 primers upside down or missing, and one round missing primer pocket.

The is a Dealer working on importing Wolf. Last word I had from him was that the government was insisting on bi lingual packaging.

FWIW: A shooter went to a match with the steel cased 45, and had many different problems with it.

FTF, FTE, FT chamber.

IT IS CRAP. Besides, if there is any grit on the case when it's chambered, there is a distinct possibility that the chamber will get scratched, unless, that is, you don't care about your gun.
