Reich Revolver info please

I picked up this 1879 Reich revolver that was manufactured in 1882 by Mauser.
I have looked around for info on line for this one. The grips don't look typical and also it does not have a cannon end barrel.
Anyone got any info as to why the odd grips and barrel?

Its 150 years old and one of the owners in that time personalized it. It's still no less a fine revolver.

Might just be the pics angle but the grips (which look good) don't look to be a good fit.
Obviously been re-barreled so I'm guessing the rifling is good.
So....parts of the gun are not original.
44 Russian and a long barrel, I'll bet it's a decent shooter.

Interesting variation.
C& Arsenal on YouTube has a good video that speaks to the history and production of these. I can't remember exactly but there were a couple different runs by different factories.

I figured someone had been building it. I am looking forward to a dry summer to pack it around and see it it will hit anything.

The barrel looks like from an 1883, grip is redone, overall looks better than the original 79! They are supposed to be strong and accurate, the .44 Russian fits and it is an accurate cartridge In my Smiths.

Barrel looks way too long to be from a 1883 Reich-Revolver.
OP could measure it to be sure.

Yep, you are right similar shape but longer, still very nice/interesting.

The Barrel length is 170mm. The serial number is the same on the barrel as all the other parts on the revolver.
The front blade sight is adjustable.

I rolled up some of Jet Hunters 240 gr, LARGE Hollow Point Bullets.
In 44 Russian brass with 4.5 grains of unique powder behind them.

Shot them over my Shooting Chrony today and got 662.2 Fps average. Not much spread from one shot to another.

I can hardly wait till the snow is gone so I can go to my spot to see what it does on paper.
