Does anyone have suggestions for where, in the Toronto area, I can get a Release Agent for working with Epoxy Steel?

Thanks,

Rob Yale

silicone spray, actually just about anything with silicone in it.

Available at wal-mart, CT, autoparts, even grocery stores often have it.

x2 kiwi neutral shoe polish. Be very liberal with it and apply it all over the action it'll save you a lot of headaches if any of the bedding material over flows.

x3 on the Kiwi neutral shoe polish, it is all I have ever used, dries to a nice haze that is easy to see on metal

I just got back from the Tru-Oil distributor here in Toronto (man it's hard to get that stuff) who told me that Pam (essentially Canola Oil) works well. Does that seem like it would work?

I suppose the action would need to be cleaned with a good solvent afterwards to get rid of whatever greasy substance is used as the release agent.

I have tried Pam. It did work as a release agent. Didn't like it. It is a liquid. Goes where it is not wanted or needed. Last thing I want is an oily substance getting into the wood.

Doubt that there is much difference between neutral Kiwi and paste wax.

I just use neutral KIWI with JB weld, but can run into problems unrelated to the release agent like roughness and machining marks grabbing and holding onto parts that have to slide out, and epoxy leaking somewhere it shouldn't and having to scrape it off later.

Don't know why,--always had a hard time finding Neutral shoe polish (supposed to be great for a tight fit,) --- but Liquid car wax,was easily found & worked very well.

i didn't have great luck with the shoe polish. Wood floor paste wax or mothers carnuba wax worked way way better. Applied a liberal coat of floor wax, buffed smooth, worked like a charm with devcon.
