Reload 9mm on a budget

Hey all,

With winter coming up, I'm starting to consider reloading for a s&w m&p 9mm. I already have a ridiculous amount of range brass, and am looking at a cheap and effective way to reload them, with some cheapo recipes. No competition in my sights, just spend a few hundred (thousand?) rounds to really learn to shoot the thing.

I am looking at the Lee value turret kit :

Price seems right, but what do I know.

So here are my questions :

Is this kit a viable option?

Will I need anything else?

Do you guys have a c-h-e-a-p ''recipe'' for 9mm plinking ammo?

tite group and whatever the cheapest bullet you can find is

altho id pony up the extra for 147gr and its much more pleasant to shoot compared to 115gr

Lee turret press is a great machine but that kit is useless IMO. I would buy the lee turret press with a lee auto disc pro powder dispenser. Forget the balance beam scale and buy a good one like the hornady ones around $45. Lee auto prime aswell and some dies. The auto disk is good but for a few bucks more get the pro with removable hopper and baffle.

As for a good 9mm load i am using 124 grain aim plated over 4.5 grain of 231 with cci or win primers. My cost is $158 tax in per 1000

Go with CLASSIC TURRET PRESS KIT 90304, forget the included scale, start with MTM Digital Reloading scale from Lebaron or Airgunsource; Deluxe 4 die Pistol set, Winchester/CCI small pistol primers, Bullseye or Titegroup powder, depending on the range restrictions, a 125gr copper plated or lead hardcast will do. FOCUS in reloading is the main point. No distractions, otherwise, you are flirting into a major disaster. Read and follow manuals or the suggested loads from the powder you are using. Start will smaller batches and make necessary adjustments as you move up. Always check OAL of the completed round against your barrel. Have fun!

I got the less expensive Deluxe turret press for .45Colt and .45ACP,I bought the 4 Die set for both calibres because I wanted a crimp die to keep the bullets in place.
If you really want to save money consider casting your own bullets,I am casting hard lead ie: pure lead with tin added to harden it up.
.45 Colt factory ammo is about $1.00./round my re-loads are about 5 cents each using cast bullets.
