Starting to reload Savage 10 in 260 using Varget powder. I am using 140 grain Nosler custom competition bullets. The rifle has 24" barrel with 1 in 8 twist. Does anyone have any reloading experience with this powder and bullet weight that you can share?

From the Sierra manual: VARGET 32.3 34.0 35.8 37.5
2300 2400 2500 2600
Most accurate powder was Vitavori

Accuracy Load: Viht N150/ 37.9grs. 2600fps/ 2101ft. lbs.
Hunting Load: Viht N540/ 39.2grs. 2700fps/ 2266ft. lbs.

Of all the loads I scammed of CGN not one contained VARGET.

You are using Nosler bullets but Nosler did not list VARGET.

Just did my first loads of 260Rem for new Tikka CTR with 34.5, 35.5 and 36.5 Varget for 123gr Lapua. Will test them Thursday.

From what I've read 130+ needs a slower powder than Varget so I plan to use H4350 when I can find more.

For COAL ~20thousand off max or whatever max your mags allows for precision bullet. To the crimp ring for hunting bullets.

I have tried H4350, R17, and VV160 in my 260, some were really good, but not great. I went thru 300 rnds of H4350 trying to get better groups, but it never happened...best was 3/4 moa with 43.2 gr and a 123 scenar.
Then i tried Varget, and it was by far the best powder for my rifle....very very good groups near and far with minimal vertical... It is actually quite popular with the 260 crowd.
I shot 140/142's, 130/129's, and 120/123's with Varget - match and hunting - i went with Dan Newberry's recommended OCW loads, started lower and worked up - and what I found was all three bullet weights settled in their node within 0.3 gr of what he listed as OCW Varget loads.

Hodgdon site max for 140gr NOS PART 36.0Grs Varget 2,578 ft/s 59,400 PSI

44Grs is def. one badass load that is way above recommendation. Any chrono numbers?
44 grains of varget with 140 Bergers gives incredible accuracy in my tikka 260
