Reload Room Pic

That is the exact same workbench and stool I bought 4 days ago for my reloading setup. Just got my press etc in the mail today.

My little reloading space beside my computer desk. Cgn is but one foot away from my reloading press :evil: I found the plans for the desk from a fellow Cgn'r and love it to pieces. Just 2x4's and 3/4" mdf. Does my remington vsf gain me eligibility in the remington tactical club? they dont make any "tactical" rifles in left handed so the vsf in 308 win is the next best thing.


Little shelf at eye level for my dumper, trickler, and scale (thanks Mr.Todd bartell) in my time of need;) I just loaded those rounds up tonight for wednesday night "smallbore" haha.


I figured what the hey I am also into models (and long walks along the beach ladies :p ) My grandfather drove said tracked vehicle and the infamous tiger 1, and was an artillery sighter on the russian front from 40 to 45.

My Gun Room

My gun room is 9'6" X 12'6".
Exterior walls 2X4 with 1/2" plywood + 1/2" gyproc with 1/2" gyproc on the inside. Steel re-enforced door with high security deadbolt. Magnetic contacts on door and window, with infra red movement detector monitored by alarm company.

8' X 6' L shaped workbench with Lee Progressive and Lee Single Stage presses. 8' of open faced cabinets. 2 x 15A counter plug circuts. CATV and Telephone outlets. Digital pistol safe.

Added a DVD - CD - MP3 - AM/FM Stereo - 8" Color LCD TV :D

Ammo shelf under workbench. Has about 5000 rounds of various calibers on it already (LOTS of weight).

Had some left over Teak from my boating days... built a 16 gun rifle rack.

Window has steel bars on the inside fastened with 3/8" lag bolts.
The room surpasses CFC requirements for a "Room not easily broken into". It's nice to have my collection of rifles and handguns hanging about without trigger locks on them. :D
The room has a programmable electronic thermostat and has 10 ceiling mounted halogen lights on 2 dimmer switches.
My wife is threatening to move my bed downstairs. She has lovingly baptized my gun room as "The Bunker". :bigHug:

I am getting some oak wall plaques made from a trophy shop. Will mount my handguns on the wall with brass engraved plates with a description & caliber. I spent 10 days of my vacation building this room.

Dmay, I see you have a trophy from an early hunt: Top picture, top right corner in a glass case. Was this taken locally or from a safari in some exotic location?:cool:
Btw, on a neatness scale of 1 to 10 (10 being immaculate) you rate about 4. I rate about 2...on a good day.:)
 
That trophy is from a two year archeological expedition into the mysterious jungle of the Trixurcokkles Gorge in the depths of unexplored Potugese West Africa in the early 1800s.
Was quite a trip- cannibal tribes, humanoid apes, voodoo witchdoctor, man-eating lions, stampeding elephants, grizzly rabbits, and lots of damsels in distress.
Soon as I'm done the book, I'll send you a copy.:D




And oh yeah,....its legal.
 
What an astonishing coincidence! We were both in the Trixurcokkles Gorge at the same time. I remember the damsells in distress part vividly despite the passage of time.
Did you perchance visit the land of the Giant Homogumpus tribe in the northern reaches of the gorge?
 
Here are some pics of my loading room; it may seem a little excessive, but it's my only hobby so I don't spend a ton on things like boats or green fees. By the way, I'm happily married and my wife even helped put the room together. She helps with my reloading too.....

Actually, I shoot about 50 different calibers and since I can't afford to buy all those bullets I cast my own. I shoot rifle, shotgun, and handgun (and as you shotgunners know, when your wife shoots too you can go through 10's of thousands of rounds a year of shotgun ammo alone).
I don't like being rushed to load up a few hundred rounds in preparation for going to the range, so I have everything ready to go so I can head out without any hassle. A lot of my reloading equipment has been picked up at gun shows, estate sales, etc. It makes it convenient having multiple presses so I don't have to be constantly switching over the dies.
I go shooting twice a week with a group of guys and it's pretty easy to go through lots of ammo. It took me 20 years to get to this stage but what really helped was being a D.I.N.K. for 15 years. The room was a carport that was walled in and finished.
 
Re: How have you set up your casting area?

My melter is a Lee 4/20 ProMelt. It's bolted to a rolling tool cabinet and when the weather's nice I can just roll the whole thing outside and make some bullets. When I'm done I just roll it back. My bullet molds are stored in the drawers of the tool cabinet so everything is nice and handy.

I know it looks like a lot of presses in there, but how many people would be able to pass up a Dillon 550 with 6 powder measures and tool heads for $300??? I was even thinking of re-selling some of them but once they're
bolted to my bench and I realized how convenient it was I just couldn't part with any.
