Any experience or info on loading for the 8x60 cartridge?

This looks like an interesting cartridge. My limited understandfing is that after WW1 many German 7.92x57 chambered sporting rifles were converted to 8x60 to comply with treaties.

Is brass available or is it easily formed from something else? Is there a source of reloading data available? Any and all info appreciated.

Thx, Terry

Older European manuals will have some data, I haven't seen any new stuff in years though. Basically just start with 8x57 data and work up. Brass was available from RWS, or you can just make it from 30-06 brass. Ballistically, not much different from the 8 Mauser really, just a tiny bit more case capacity. - dan

thanks Dan. Thats about what i figured, an 8mm-06 equivalent.

Since i picked up the 9.3x57 i've found how much fun some of these older cartridges can be. Might have to get one of these too, if i can find dies somewhere.

For mine I just used the 8x 57 data and went from there. The rimmed cases are loaded milder. In a bolt gun the round is hotter. My European book shows the 180 at 2600, the 200 at 2425 and the 220 at 2200.

Some manuals show data for the 8-06. That will give you some powder and load ideas.

Just make sure you know the barrel size. 318 or 323?
