Just curious if there is any rl-17 around and if anyone has pet loads for calibers 7x57, 7mm rem, .25-06, .30-06, or .338win with it. Also anyone have loading advice such as pressure spikes, temp stability, velocity, density ect. Thanks for any advice

Nada on availability. You might find a pound here or there, but that's a case of luck, not stock.

For this very reason I've turned my back on Alliant powder, and Federal primers, many moons ago.

( Alliant and Federal are the same parent company)

I shoot RL 17 in my 7x57, chasing the Nosler 140 AB.
PPU cases, WLR primer, 52 grains of RL 17 is max working load in my rifle. [2900+ fps]

I would start at 47 grains and work up carefully....my 7x57 is a 700 "Classic" Remington, not a military arm.

FWIW, Alliant powders seem a bit scarce lately....I have a bit of RL15, RL17, RL19, RL22 & RL 25 laid in, so can wait it out.

Regards, Dave.

The burn rate for RL17 is close to that of IMR4350......As a general rule of thumb, cartridges that shine with IMR4350 will usually do well with RL-17.....As mentioned, the real trick is actually finding some.....

PS; That's a nice rifle, the Classic 700 chambered for a classic cartridge......

I guess I am asking as I lucked into 4 pounds of it, they had 5. I have had good results with Hybrid 100v and I have heard they are very close with rl-17 having the edge on velocity and temp stability. Thanks for the load info and my 7x57 is a tang ruger m77 that I am itching to get out but the snow has been relentless this winter.

Have you tried 145 speer btsp, 139sst,154sst or 160 speer btsp, 140np or siera 140GK. I have all these but not accubonds, just wonder how they compare

Found a place semi local that had a few pounds last fall stood in the store for 15 minutes and the staff was more conceded about talking to their bud die that was there so left. Went and spend my budget I had for there on powder someplace else. Wont be going back. I do really want to try some r17 though.

I do not shoot any Boattail bullets, but use the same load for similar results with the 140 Nosler Partition.

I have also shot the Sierra Pro Hunter 140, but with Norma MRP, not RL 17.

Do not care for the SST at all, so no info about them.

Regards, Dave.
