Hi all,
I'm relatively new to reloading 12ga shells, but I was at my club this weekend and there was a pail full of empty Fedral Gold Metal #4 buckshot hulls. The pail was covered with snow so the shells were wet but they haven't been there more than 2 weeks. So I had two questions.

1) Can the hulls be damaged to where its not recommended reloading them, from sitting there with water/snow on them for two weeks and what about longer periods of time?
2) Is it fine to reload these hulls for trap loads considering they originally were loaded with buckshot?

Thanks for your help.

Moisture won't hurt plastic, and the gold medal hulls are all plastic[not true for top gun hulls with paper wads]. I don't have experience with buckshot hulls, but I would try loading one and see how it works. As long as everything fits correctly, I would think it should work. Any one done this?

First, gold medal, not metal.

Second, as long as they are not rusted out anywhere, especially around the primer area you should be fine to reload them. Just leave them for a week or two to dry out and make sure nothings stuck on the inside of them if they were in the trash.
Yes, you can reload those other buckshot hulls. Just make sure they're the same recipe.

Thanks guys, just out of curiosity what are a couple of your favourite load recipies right now Beretta-Skeet? I have been loading AA hs hulls with 17.5grs clays, 7 1/2 shot, winchester primers and WT-12 wads @ 1174fps for the 16 yd line for trap and haven't noticed much of a change in my scores? Although I do feel it helpful to understand the process of how a shell is made, and like the ability to change recipies.
