i cant seem to find anywhere on here or the net for info on reloading 12ga slugs at home. u can load standard shot shells y not slugs? i manufactures of them get them from somewhere so should be able to as well, if i cant find them i will make them, i was thinking of .60cal as the barrel calibre if a 12ga is .730. so .60 would be good to allow room for the wad, and still allow it to rifle out of the barrell...any suggetions or ideas would be cool...thanks

Don't use batteries or stacked pennies.

What type of slugs are you thinking about reloading? Rifled slugs and sabot slugs would be difficult I think.

I make and market the "Lyman Sabot Slug" at 525grs. pure lead, it is meant to be used in regular plastic shotcups, in regular plastic hulls using the normal star crimp although i prefer a roll crimp. The mold comes with loads for diff. hulls and diff. wads, and loads are avail. from me or possibly Lyman. This info pertains only to this very effective slug, and the mold is avail. from your better supply places, it can be finicky casting due to the fillout required with the large hollow base. If you want to try them, WSS should have some of mine kicking around, before one invests in the mold.

I second Ben. I use the lyman sabot slug in my Mosberg 535 rifled barrel. Very accurate out to 100 yards. It is easy to reload. I got my loads from a shotgun reloading manual.
PM and I will look up the loads for you.

You could also get 12 gauge round ball. It is used by blackpowder shotgunners. Works very well and it is a good weight. I don't have recipes for that.

i would prefer the roll instead of the crimp. and i am definatley going to look into it thanks alot ben!!

Get the Lyman 5th edition shotshell reloading handbook.
Shows you how to roll crimp slugs and the difference in the hulls being used. Full of usefull info.

ballistic products in the states used to make a cup for loading up 50 cal handgun bullets for use in 12ga rifled barrels. I have some but I
m still trying to find time to try them out. They look like a good product but I've noticed they dont have them on their website right now. They used a roll crimp too and they gave some pretty fast numbers with their loads.
